Written shot list.

Hi all. This is the shot list that I currently have planned out. It will be combined with the storyboards and re-posted tomorrow. Let me know what you think and let me know if you have any comments, concerns, or suggestions.

Documentary shot list

The documentary will be headed up by the short motion graphics piece/ logo animation.

The screen fades from black to normal color.
Scene 1 occurs indoors (preferably in a classroom or lab in the UC Denver Building 8th floor) Visual elements. Camera1 zooms from a view of the outside city and focuses on person number 1.

Shot specifications: Camera 1 direct frontal view. Person being interviewed takes up the majority of the the shot. Person 1 is centered and is the main camera focus taking up the majority of the frame. Camera 2 is positioned at a 3/4 view. Several students should be positioned behind the main person being interviewed... these individuals should be working on different projects.

Shot 2: switch to 3/4 view to focus on working students.

Shot 3: cut to second interview. 2nd person should be the main focus and take up the majority of the screen but will be positioned to the left of the screen to the center of the shot.

Cut to scene 4: shot 4 will be shot outdoors. This interview follows the same specifications as shot 3 but the person will take up the right side of the screen.
As this person is talking. The audio continues but the visuals change to show different cam students doing different jobs this section will also include visuals of the equipment that is used by CAM records.

Scene 5: Scene 5 utilizes multiple camera angles and is a combination of students responding to 1 question. This scene will be heavily edited as excerpts from each students response to the question is cut out and reassembled so 1 cohesive story about the identity and contributions of CAM records can be made. The shots in this scene are very personal (full face)

Scene 6 operates much like scene 5 but with a different question and a few additional visual elements including shots showing the use of technology. Students in these shots will be shown working. This helps to reinforce that attitude that CAM Records is ACTIVE. (this scene differs from scene 4 in that it is more fast paced and contains audio from multiple interviews)

additional scenes? If bands are available to shoot we will also conduct interviews with them. These interviews will be placed between scenes 4 and 5.

*additional notes-- we have multiple cameras available so i would like to place them at different angles during scenes 5 and 6 and we can pick the best angles to edit into the documentary. These scenes are going to be the ones with the most variation in placement.

  1. Thanks for being so detailed with all this... I think it sounds great. We will discuss everyone's roles and schedule a time to get it done in class tomorrow.
